Custom Order Process

This page is meant to be a quick and informative general overview of the custom order process. My goal for laying out this process is to reduce confusion, making it, overall a more enjoyable experience for you, the client. For a more formal reading please visit the Custom Order Terms & Conditions. This overview does not supersede any Terms & Conditions.

Happy customers make me happy. I take great care to ensure that every piece of furniture that I sell meets the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. I stand behind the quality of everything I sell and your satisfaction with my products is of the utmost importance to me. Because of the nature of wood products to change over time due to light exposure, moisture, heat, or other factors, I cannot warrant against changes that may occur naturally over time. I will make every effort to ensure that you are happy with your purchase.

  • Completion of the “custom order” questionnaire by the client

    • This will give me important beginning information to start the custom order process.

    • It is appreciated that this form is filled out as thoroughly as possible, as to not waste your time. This ensures potential conflicts between estimated budget and product request are addressed as soon as possible.

    • I will respond to form completions in the order they are received as close to the preferred date and time as possible.

    • Initial contact to you after completion of the questionnaire, will be to set up an appropriate time and location for appointment. Face-to-Face appointments are preferred but other arrangements can be discussed based on the circumstances

  • Initial Appointment

    • It is crucial for you to bring any information you deem important about the order to the initial appointment. (Product requirements and essential or preferred features)

    • Common items to be addressed at the appointment:

      • Preferred or Necessary Dimensions

      • Species of Woods (Product Color Palette)

      • Design Styles

      • Any Strict Deadlines

    • You are encouraged to bring any items you feel important to help convey the style and design of the final product you envision.

    • It is assumed that areas of the product design not specifically covered by you are being left to artistic interpretation of the craftsman.

  • Response to Initial Appointment and Rough Design Creation/Review

    • You will be notified after the initial appointment with one of the following: order acceptance with a rough design, questions pertaining to a problem with order, or rejection of order.

    • The rough design (usually hand sketches, non-detailed) will be presented to you with: possible options for product if applicable, rough estimated prices to craft product, and set price for design deposit.

    • This design will factor in any requirements and features you specifically requested.

    • This step is designed to ensure both you and I are on the same page with the design before moving forward into the product design.

  • Product Design

    • Product design begins after you finalize payment of the design deposit presented during the rough design.

    • The design deposit is non-refundable and covers the cost of making 3D computer renderings, technical drawings, building plans, specifications, and list of materials.

    • At the completion of the product design you will be presented with the final product design and price.

    • You may choose to alter the final design which may include additional design costs and alteration to final product price, depending on the extent of alterations.

    • After you have been presented with the final design and price, you have 14 days to accept and submit payment.

      • After 14 days the design can still be produced but needs to be reevaluated to ensure proposed price still represents current market value of materials.

  • Product Creation

    • Your product will begin being crafted after either the product deposit or the product final price has been paid. These are non-refundable after beginning production.

      • If the final price is more than $750, then a deposit of 50% is to be paid.

      • If the final price is equal to or less than $750, then the full product price is to be paid.

        • This is designed to protect against you withdrawing commitment during the build process and me having to try re-selling a potentially very personalized piece.

        • Paying the full product price upfront is open to being waived, depending on the final price and how personalized the piece is.

    • During this stage it is my goal to keep you updated with current progress and pictures.

    • Production time may vary and will be discussed at a case-by-case basis during the initial meetings. I am a single man company who also happens to be a perfectionist. I will not be able to create items as quickly as factories, but I value quality craftsmanship and take great pride in my creations.

I look forward to handcrafting your household’s next family heirloom.
